Dressed in an obnoxious pink (and hot-looking) golf shirt-in the debilitating heat of Thailand, the equally obnoxiously named “Blaine,” Bevers was perfectly cast as the quintessential 80’s jerk. “What you want to do is get your beer and your popcorn and watch the show,” explained Lincoln Bevers, who acknowledged that he’s the film’s “douchebag” during San Diego Comic Con interviews, a tidbit that Ferrante gleefully echoed. It’s a successor to crowd-engaging events like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the first Zombie proved that it’s a very worthy heir to the Sharknado franchise. Zombie Tidal Wave-and Sharknado movies before-are just a big party. In these overwrought times, these films provide humor, self-deprecation, but most of all, a lot of engaging fun. Their unique vision is inspired by the campy classics of old, in the case of Tidal Wave, the Italian cult filmmaker Lucio Fulci, whose blood-soaked beloved films spanned five decades and earned him the nickname, the “Godfather of Gore.” Lucio Fulci would have been proud of the gorily exuberant Zombie Tidal Wave revealed on Saturday. “Zombie Tidal Wave” (not a great title, “Zombie Tsunami” sounds so much better, right?) isn’t exactly original (after all, we’ve had “Shock Waves” before), but nonetheless is a very solid, refreshing zombie film. No martial arts here, but he’s in the film nonetheless. The fans of martial arts films may notice Ron Smoorenburg in the film – as one of the zombie extras. Ian Ziering (who kills the undead with things like an electric sword and a motor boat engine!) looks extremely comfortable fighting off the undead – years of fighting all sorts of sharks have proven to be useful. Since this is “Fulci-themed”, I was expecting to see a zombie looking like Fulci himself, but no such luck. The film has quite some gory moments, and while the zombie make-up isn’t really that creative, the zombie kills are, which is always a plus. And there’s the mentioned zombie tsunami, which is CGI, but nonetheless looks pretty cool. In “Zombie Tridal Wave”, the idea expands to a lot of zombies coming up from the sunken ship on the ocean floor, we also have a rock band named “The Fulci’s”, so you get the idea. Within the first 20 minutes or so, we get our first zombie attack, we get a shot of an amazing female butt in tight shorts, a hero armed with a machete… and a zombie tsunami.Īs you’ve probably guessed, this film is heavily influenced by Lucio Fulci’s legendary “Zombi 2” (aka Zombie Flesheaters) film from 1979, which featured a zombie underwater battling a shark.

To make one thing clear – “Zombie Tidal Wave” works for several reasons, despite many not expecting a lot of from SyFy and those who made the “Sharknado” movies. The film, as already mentioned, stars Ian Ziering (the star of all those “Sharknado” movies) and directed by Anthony Ferrante (the director of all those “Sharknado” movies). The above is basically the plot for “Zombie Tidal Wave” released by SyFy. To save the remaining survivors and put up a fight is up to a bunch of locals led by fisherman Hunter (Ian Ziering). A small coastal town is at risk, as some unknown power has forced hordes of zombies rise up from the depths of the ocean and now everyone is at risk.
